Hal
Bogle knew the value of a good horse. He started the ranch remuda with
improved native broodmares acquired with the ranches and the use of remount
stallions provided by the U.S. Calvary. Early in the 1940s, World
Champion Cowboy, Bob Crosby was in Oklahoma and discovered a son of San
Siemon, bred and owned by Dick Truitt. Crosby convinced Hal Bogle to
purchase the horse and bring him to New Mexico. This horse was named
Bogle and registered with the newly formed American Quarter Horse
Association. The Bogles have registered their horses with the AQHA
from that time forward.

The ranch
keeps two broodmare bands with 20-25 mares in each band. One band is
kept
at 4-Lakes while the other is located on Turkey Track. Prior to entering
the broodmare band, all files are broken to ride. The geldings are placed
in the ranch remuda as the cowboys are horseback most days of the year.
The Bogle Family knows the importance of carrying on the Western tradition with
the primary goal for the horse breeding program being to keep good horses under
good cowboys. The ranches have always been, an will continue to be, worked
on horseback. |
