The ranch
consists of approximately 800 sections, over 500, 000 acres that range from
shinnery country to hard gramma grasslands on the Caprock. The ranch
operation is primarily cow/calf, with some yearlings. During wet years
more yearlings are grazed. The X-Bar ranch runs a set of straight Angus
cows, while the Turkey Track and 4-Lakes running Brahman crosses. The
calves are weaned on grass and then back grounded at the feedlot in Dexter.
From there, they are either sold or sent to the Panhandle to be finished.
